The Ascent Dumbwaiter is a universal lift designed for easy installation in your home or commercial building.

The dumbwaiter makes transporting everything from groceries to holiday decorations as simple as pushing a button.

Planning Guide

The following information is intended to assist architects, contractors and home owners in planning for dumbwaiter that meets the requirements of ASME A17.1 and A18.1.

We strongly recommend you contact the codes authority having jurisdiction in the area(s) where the dumbwaiter will be installed. Become familiar with all requirements governing the installation. It is extremely important for you to know and adhere to all regulations.

Elevator configurations and dimensions are in accordance with the manufacturer's interpretation of the standards set forth by ASME A17.1 and A18.1.

Summit Lifts, Inc. designs their lifts to meet the stringent requirements of ASME A17.1, and ASME A18.1 when installed properly.  Those wishing to acquire these products need to check with local authorities to assure local code compliance, installation requirements, and to determine if permits are required.

Hoistway Construction Notes

• Minimum overhead clearance inside the hoistway is 48" above the upper level sill height. The typical sill height is 36" above the floor level.
• Hoistway sizes reflect running and access clearances only. Consult your local authority to
  assure compliance with state local codes.
• Hoistway walls to be plumb and square.
• Hoistway door provided by others.
• Machine access door provided by others.

Guide Rail Backing

• Use two continuous 4 x 4 posts as backing for the guide rail attachment.
• Guide rail backing must be tied to a horizontal structural member (header or floor plate) at top, bottom and maximum of 10' between.
• Location varies depending on application. Request application specific drawings before beginning construction.

Installation

Homecare Suppliers will install the Ascent Dumbwaiter for you within certain cities throughout the U.S.

Installation isn't much more complicated than connecting sections of track, securing the drive cable to the header, and routing the wires to the control buttons and door interlocks. In many cases, a full day of installation time can be cut from the process. We recommend you check with your local codes department to review necessary installation permits in your area. G.A.L.
