Seniors in need find help fast

Eighty-six-year-old Charlotte Beaman of Norwell can hear again — thanks to new hearing aids provided by the Elder Care Fund, which uses money from an 86-year-old trust to help local senior citizens.

‘‘I had them a few years back, but I ran over one with my wheelchair, and the other one must have fallen out of my ear when I was outdoors, and I think the lawn mower ran over it,’’ Beaman said. ‘‘I didn’t have the money to replace them — they cost a couple of thousand dollars.’’
